- Been watching Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis today… interesting how many Stargate actors were also on Sanctuary #
- It's comparable even to the Star Trek actors appearing on Stargate #
- I have to say, though, SGA season 5 did a hell of a lot for Woolsey's character #

- @TheUniques Yeah: no kilts back then, Rob't Bruce didn't betray Scots, the queen in the film was a toddler then & Wallace was a teenager…. in reply to TheUniques #
- @TheUniques Wallace fought 2 yrs before caught & killed, but Bruce fought for decades after, wasn't crowned until 13 yrs after Wallace died in reply to TheUniques #
- @TheUniques And his "betrayal" in the movie? He stopped fighting for a few years because the Brits were holding his daughter hostage in reply to TheUniques #
- @TheUniques Not saying Rob't Bruce was a saint, but the movie was like a character assassination piece. Demonized him for no good reason in reply to TheUniques #
- @TheUniques aaand… as you may have guessed, I did a bit of research on Rob't Bruce after I found out he's my ancestor in reply to TheUniques #
- @TheUniques An excellent resource for research on Wallace & Bruce is "Scotland: The Story of a Nation" by Magnus Magnusson in reply to TheUniques #
- @TheUniques No prob. I picked it up when I was researching my family tree – 1 chapter each on wallace & bruce, then on bruce's descendants in reply to TheUniques #
- Trekipedia just got nearly 900 unique visitors today… the highest single-day number was previously 175. Wonder where the hits came from. #
- Scratch that. It's up to 937 now and climbing. Where are the hits coming from, and is this just a one-day blip, or a sign of things to come? #
- Just passed 1000… #
- Looks like one IP address is causing nearly all this traffic… looks like somebody in Canada is using a site-ripper on my site… #
- Somebody with a Canadian IP was ripping my site; each page in <10 seconds. Ate up ~2GB bandwidth in less than an hour. Blocked the IP #
- To the perpetrator of the douchebaggery on my web site this afternoon, you need to learn @wilw (Wheaton)'s Law: Don't be a dick. #

- This is what happens when you announce "free food" on campus. Probably 300 people in line ahead of me. http://tweetphoto.com/41522741 #

- Saw Iron Man 2 at the campus theater this evening, and won a poster of the Mark V suitcase armor in a raffle after the movie #fb #
- Enjoyed class, had a beer with some new friends, went bowling, watched a movie, won a poster… You know, today was a pretty good day #
- I just realized… 8 years ago today, I was starting my second week of basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas #fb #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-08-21
- FINALLY found a source with a verifiable registry number for the U.S.S. Sovereign… Featured prominently in the game Bridge Commander #
- The numbers in the Decipher RPG Starships reference were just way too high – expected somewhere around 75000, but they gave in the 90000s #
- Bridge Commander gave a very clear NCC-73811, though, and that's far closer, given the time frame that the ship was built #
- Interestingly, that means the Sovereign was built about a year before the Defiant… I was expecting the other way around #
- While searching, I also found Stardates for several games, and updated my timeline spreadsheet accordingly #
- It happens to all of us, @theisb. Some of us more frequently than others. #
- Oh sweet irony RT @latimes Conservative group kicks off $4.1-million election ad campaign decrying wasteful spending http://lat.ms/bOM4xG #
- @wilw For future reference, where on the clock is OUCH IT HURTS ME o'clock in relation to Oh-Dark Thirty? in reply to wilw #
- @danmcguff I love that his only regret was Garfield in reply to danmcguff #
- Watching some no-budget indie zombie flick on Netflix… it is, shall we say, rather weird, esp. the part with the cannibal couple #
- ok… apparently they're not cannibals, they're vampires, and they're keeping this woman alive since most of their food source is zombified #
- and now it's getting even weirder lol #
- OK…. Sadistic guy's in a priest's vestments, and the only stuff in his house is a handgun, a cross, and "Catholicism for Dummies." LOL #
- Have I mentioned this movie is a few steps beyond weird? #
- Oh, man, this movie is screaming for a good MST3K treatment #
- I have to admit, I'd never considered the impact of a zombie apocalypse on the vampire community before seeing this film #
- I can understand why it only got 1.5 stars on Netflix, but it really wasn't that bad. The editing and music were actually quite good. #
- The dialogue was occasionally witty, and I don't think I've ever seen someone do vampires in a zombie movie before. #
- Heck, there was even an appearance by a pre-pubescent Antichrist. This movie had it all. #
- Even better, this movie's vampires were daywalkers who didn't sparkle in sunlight. #
- Trekipedia: Update: 16 August 2010 http://www.trekipedia.net/7013 #
- Vets' Orientation tomorrow morning at Cal State Fullerton. GI Bill paperwork (finally) finished and sorted out. Classes start next week. #
- Watching the original V on Netflix… apparently the first thing all burglars do after breaking into a house is turn on the TV #
- And holy crap, 80s, those jeans all the guys are wearing look uncomfortably tight #originalv #
- Maybe it's just me, but there had to have been a better way to show what was going on than watching people watching TV #originalv #
- Watching the #originalV is like how @theisb's @chrisvstwilight describes Twilight – everything exciting is relayed to us third-hand #
- Hate to say it, #originalV but I'm 15 minutes in and have to say that the remake did it better. #
- You can tell this is fiction 'cause the leader of the V's just called humans "intelligent life." #originalV #
- Gee, high school band playing the Star Wars theme song as the alien ship lands… foreshadowing much? #originalV #
- I wonder how much money Lucas got out of the licensing deal for that #originalV #
- Oh, classic 80s freeze-frame for a few seconds before the credits roll lol #originalV #
- My Twifficiency score is 53%. Whats yours? http://twifficiency.com/ #
- 53%… of what? It gives no basis or reference for the scores. For all I know, it's just a random number #
- Based on "how many people you follow, how many people follow you, how often you tweet and how many tweets you read." Vague much? #
- That's sick RT @abc7: 31-year-old man behind bars, accused of having sex with 12-year-old girl he met in Santa Ana http://bit.ly/dnk3jP #
- At Dice House. Tuan is playing Doom and quoted Rule #2 "Double Tap." #
- @theisb Did they happen to mention WHICH Spider-Woman? in reply to theisb #
- @ArcticMandy If you check the adapters, they're actually rated for 110-240 volts, and have a standard output of ~12 volts in reply to ArcticMandy #
- @ArcticMandy So am I in reply to ArcticMandy #
- Hey, the 76-year-old serial killer in this episode of X-Files played Simon Van Gelder on #startrek #
- @ArcticMandy I'd check the numbers on the little "brick" part of the cord but nearly all laptop/netbook cords can handle 110-240 volts in reply to ArcticMandy #
- @KFIAM640 That's one area where I find common ground with Obama in reply to KFIAM640 #
- Oh man, Jack Black was in a third-season episode of X-Files? And his best friend, Giovanni Ribisi, was a killer with electrical powers? #
- Of all the games playing in the arcade in this ep, for some reason Sonic is louder than all of them. Even on the shots of Virtua Fighter. #
- Trekipedia: Update: 18 August 2010 http://www.trekipedia.net/7061 #startrek #
- @theisb Um, yeah… that cover was cliched beyond belief in reply to theisb #
- @theisb Not only was the mermaid held in the cliched "OMG SHE'Z DED!" pose, not only was oil dripping down, but TEH TEARS, MAN! TEH TEARS! in reply to theisb #
- Trekipedia: Update: 18 August 2010, Part II http://www.trekipedia.net/7119 #startrek #
- @theisb You mean people actually read EXTREME JUSTICE? in reply to theisb #
- Once again, X-Files shows that its writers didn't like the military; group of US soldiers just lined ppl up & shot them into mass grave >:( #
- On the third season, and I can't recall a single ep so far that put the military in a good light. Always showed them as thugs/pawns #
- It's been a while since I last watched X-Files, but I don't remember the anti-military bias standing out so much before. #
- Hey, this is tweet #3456 For once, I didn't miss a milestone. #
- @A_Peabody It's not just the commanders. Even the rank-and-file are portrayed negatively. Really ruining the entertainment for me. in reply to A_Peabody #
- @A_Peabody Just frustrating that some people think that's what the military is really like. At least it's gotten better over the years in reply to A_Peabody #
- I just generated a #TweetCloud out of a month of my tweets. Top three words: military, voyager, watching – http://w33.us/7qk8 #
- I'd really love to find out who approves Mulder's expense reports. Hopping a flight to Hong Kong? Isn't that outside his jurisdiction? :p #
- Oh, wow, that miniature shot of the submarine looked totally fake. #
- OK, the second the woman accused of treason left the country, she became the CIA's problem. FBI has no jurisdiction outside the USA. #
- You'd think that a series about a pair of FBI agents would at least know how the FBI operates. #
- Figures. I was so tired yesterday that I fell asleep at 7pm… and woke up 18 hours later. Now, I can't sleep at all again. #
- NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! RT @TIME New dictionary entries: "chillax" and "bromance" | http://su.pr/2mBsWx #
- @daytonward There were enough references to the three previous films that the animated TMNT was more a sequel than a reboot in reply to daytonward #
- Trekipedia: Update: 19 August 2010 http://www.trekipedia.net/7197 #startrek #
- @normanlao It was only eps featuring the military in the first few seasons I didn't like (got better later). Otherwise, I like the show. in reply to normanlao #
- @blambot What?!?!?!?! :p in reply to blambot #
- Watching the Iron Man cartoon series on Netflix… um, what was the point of making Tony Stark 16 years old? #
- @afoolishwit Yes, yes it was. ("Timmy, do you like gladiator movies?") in reply to afoolishwit #
- Wait, Bruce Campbell was on the X-Files? How come I didn't know this before? #
- @afoolishwit Apparently not in reply to afoolishwit #

- @Jchawes Per diem is supposed to cover both food and hotel costs while traveling on gov't business; that's why it seems so high in reply to Jchawes #
- @Jchawes I think it's also supposed to cover the cost of a rental car as well, and is adjusted based on location in reply to Jchawes #
- @Jchawes That's how it worked when I was in the military, at least in reply to Jchawes #
- @daytonward I follow you and it suggested I follow Kevin Dilmore; perhaps the opposite is true as well? in reply to daytonward #

- Trekipedia: Update: 8 August 2010 http://www.trekipedia.net/6646 #
- @blambot I actually make fun of that in my third issue – my characters get a copy of a comic based on them and are appalled at the dialogue in reply to blambot #
- Holy cow, this dog's got a pungent exhaust port! Wish I hadn't left my gas mask at home. I don't think I'll be getting any sleep now… #fb #
- Watching Resident Evil for the first time in years… zombies I can buy, but an HK MP5 rifle sending one into a flying backflip? LOL #fb #
- When they showed the close-up of the expended brass from the 9mm pistol hitting the floor, why didn't it bounce? That was… weird. #
- @Quarksbartender Remember the cardboard "marshmelon" replicator tubes that came with marshmellows in the store when ST V came out? in reply to Quarksbartender #
- Ugh. Guy hit my truck while I was driving to CSUF to straighten out some GI Bill paperwork. No damage at least but my nerves are shot #fb #
- Told to call at 11:30 for GI Bill stuff; 90 mins later, nobody's answering… But I checked online and it looks like everything's done. #
- Trekipedia: Update: 12 August 2010 http://www.trekipedia.net/6855 #startrek #
- @DamonS23 @ArcticMandy I know about the Mounties, and thanks to Ren & Stimpy, the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen, too. :p #
- It kills me when TV shows get the military wrong. Like a guy at a funeral practically doing gymnastics to salute the jets flying overhead #
- The little things really bug me, too, like epaulets not being folded under the collar, or wearing hats indoors without getting chewed out #
- Stargate was pretty bad about that stuff at first, but it got better after they got an advisor from the Air Force. #
- Watching season 1 of X-Files and it's like nails on a chalkboard to me every time they show a military character on screen #
- OK, so the guy wasn't taking his hat off inside… but now he's outside in uniform and NOT wearing it… oy vey…. lol #
- Wow. Secret military operation in rural Wisconsin, and the first thing they set up was a brig? Talk about priorities. #
- Somehow I get the feeling that whoever wrote this episode didn't really think highly of the military. They're all being portrayed as thugs. #
- Wow. Junk science on top of badly caricatured characterization. This one's just hitting all my buttons. #
- I should probably skip to the next ep before it rubs me the wrong way, but it's like a train wreck: I just can't turn away. #
- Note to TV writers: there's a lot of laws governing what the military can do on U.S. soil. Knowing about them before writing might help. #
- Maybe it's just me, but if I worked with Mulder and he was always right, I'd stop doubting him. Was there EVER an ep where he was wrong? #
- He always jumped to the most insane lengths to explain a case, Scully would pooh-pooh the idea, and lo and behold, he was right all along. #
- I'd love to see one where Scully was right, and Mulder would have to accept that there was a mundane explanation for a case. #
- Had a weird dream where I was traveling to other realities, taking the place of my alternate self. Doubly so because it's not the first time #
- Last night, I was in a world where the oceans were being taken over by some kind of tube worm creature that killed off most of the sea life #
- Apparently it was desalinating the oceans as part of its life cycle, which was killing everything else. Nobody knew where it came from #
- @meznak Well, considering I remember being woken up by a ringing phone, I'd say there's a good chance it was a dream. in reply to meznak #
- Yeah, but @wilw did it first RT @scifigeeks Shatner Photobombs Star Trek fans http://ow.ly/2psBT #
- Awesome. Went to take out some trash and accidentally got locked out of the house for 2 hours until my landlord got back home. #

- Stardate-order #startrek cont'd: Dax is killed by Gul Dukat, while Voyager nearly falls for an alien's plot to get them all assimilated #
- This is why I love my local game store http://tweetphoto.com/36330663 #
- Pleasant surprise: just looked at the meat in my freezer. Thought it was all ground beef, but turns out I've got some tri-tip in there. #fb #
- O'Brien: "Just don't do anything I wouldn't do." Nog: "Chief, I can't work under those kinds of restrictions!" #
- Stardate-order #startrek cont'd: Sisko gets hitched, Kai Winn starts sleeping with Dukat, and Voyager faces off against the Borg Queen #
- And so begins the string of eps with Seven and the Doctor singing. Have I mentioned how much I dislike episodes where the characters sing? #
- I don't really like musicals… so shows where characters burst into song are like nails on a chalkboard for me… #
- Stardate-order #startrek cont'd: The Dominion War is over, and Voyager has discovered the Equinox, another ship lost in the Delta Quadrant #
- At Cal State Fullerton, waiting for transfer student orientation to start #fb #
- Stardate-order #startrek continues: Well, "Fury" was as terrible as I remembered… #
- Right up there with the "possible" sunrise in the am RT @latimes: Voters in Bell tell of possible fraud http://lat.ms/9UHPBh RT @LANow #
- @theisb You might be interested in this: a Pimp Daddy Destro Bobble Head! http://tinyurl.com/26a2bdu #
- Stardate-order #startrek cont'd: Janeway just got assimilated. On purpose. I know how it turns out and I still think it was a stupid plan. #
- Is it just me or did they play Janeway's assimilation to be a straight rip-off of Picard's? Right down to the laser on her head… #
- 17 minutes and they've not only been completely assimilated, but are wandering the cube at will? Come on, Borg don't move that quick. #
- That's like Tuvok saying "Flashback" was two days after Praxis exploded, except Spock said in Star Trek VI that it was two MONTHS later #
- Let's not even get into Valtane dying in Flashback, yet still being around for the final bridge crew shot at the end of the movie #
- or the helmsman suddenly getting a ridiculously thick Slavic accent that he didn't have in the movie #
- But I digress. Where was I? Oh, right. Janeway's sporting Locutus' old duds, 'cept her laser was blue instead of red for some reason #
- Oh, Tuvok just revealed he was born on the Vulcanis Lunar Colony. It's possible his parents survived Vulcan's destruction in the new movie #
- Of course, butterfly effect could mean he never gets conceived… it apparently made Chekov 4 years older, at any rate #
- Anyway, why is Janeway's laser blue? We've never seen a Borg laser any color except red before, and everything else is green… so why blue? #
- Wait… they send three of the ship's senior officers to be intentionally assimilated and DON'T change their command codes? #
- Those codes should've been locked out before they even left the ship #
- Their own fault they just took a torpedo through the saucer. #
- And Janeway stops the Borg Queen from blowing up a crapload of Borg ships WHY? #
- As Napoleon once said, "Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake." #
- @danmcguff meh, you're just jealous 'cause I'm not too ashamed to geek out in public in reply to danmcguff #
- @danmcguff but only for one day. :p in reply to danmcguff #
- I'm all for suspending disbelief… but an Intrepid class ship really shouldn't last more than 30 seconds against a tactical cube #
- A single, normal cube was more than a match for most of the fleet on two occasions… yet Voyager can handle multiple cubes on its own? #
- Unimatrix Zero wasn't bad… it was entertaining… but there's just so many holes in the plot… #
- @A_Peabody I haven't had my DNA done, but my family tree's been traced back 1000 yrs on my dad's side #
- And I'm off to CSUF again this morning to finish off my GI Bill paperwork and (finally) register for classes… which start on the 23rd #
- @A_Peabody Yeah, but the family tree's the best I've got for now. A millennium is still pretty good on that side in reply to A_Peabody #
- Funny moment yesterday: directions on campus given in relation to Carl's Jr. One new student replied, "There's a Carl's Jr on campus?!" #
- @A_Peabody It helps that branch of the family was the Scottish royal family, and one married a Welsh princess in reply to A_Peabody #
- @A_Peabody I had no idea until a few mos ago that my paternal grandfather's pater. gmother was direct descendant of Robert the Bruce in reply to A_Peabody #

- Stardate order #startrek cont'd: DS9 pauses to Mourn for Morn, while Voyager's crew gets nightmares from nearby aliens… #
- Technobabble got really bad in season 4 of Voyager… everything became "iso-this" and "iso-that." Isometric, Isokinetic, Isolinear, Isotons #
- It's like the writers suddenly discovered prefixes and used something that sounded vaguely metric without actually being a real prefix #
- Meanwhile, over at the DS9 offices, they were eschewing most of the technobabble, focusing instead on the characters, which I greatly prefer #
- Not to say I didn't enjoy Voyager; quite the opposite. It just seems like a distant second in the quality of the writing. #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-07-24
- Just watched "These Are the Voyages" immediately after "The Pegasus," which only reinforced how much the ENT finale sucked #
- I can forgive Frakes & Sirtis not looking the same, since it was filmed 10 yrs later… but the story didn't fit the original episode at all #
- Bad enough the series finale of Enterprise was told as a TNG Holodeck flashback story more about Riker than Archer… #
- …but even shoehorning it into "The Pegasus" didn't really work, either, because it was so far off from that episode's themes & story logic #
- Seriously, how does Riker on the holodeck watching Trip blow himself up like a moron help him decide on how to handle Pressman & Picard? #
- And why rehash an episode of a series canceled 10 years earlier as the finale for a series set 215 years before that ep took place? #
- At least by doing it that way, the events of the episode set in the ENT era could be completely ignored as an inaccurate historical drama #
- Although the retcon alluding to Pressman testing the phase cloak for Section 31 was a nice touch. I suspected as much myself, anyhow #
- Actually, would that qualify as a retcon? Original never mentioned 31, but 31 didn't show up until several yrs later on DS9. Meh. Semantics. #
- Either way, the comment about the "secret branch of Starfleet Intelligence" was a nice touch. So the episode wasn't a complete waste #
- @DantesSTO I started with Archer; I'm watching in the story order, so the TNG-era stuff is all mixed together in reply to DantesSTO #
- @theisb She's had a string of consecutive 23rd birthdays since 1937. in reply to theisb #
- @Tymethief Right there with you. Still in starving student/artist mode… Ramen and frozen veggies are my friend in reply to Tymethief #
- @Tymethief Whaaat?! Spreadsheets aren't our friends?! in reply to Tymethief #

- @DantesSTO You can get bacon salt and many other bacon and caffeine infused food and drink items from @thinkgeek in reply to DantesSTO #
- Kirkman's new Image imprint has me thinking of ideas for possible submissions… #
- @gadgetdoll Jen's Tavern, where the 1337 beat the #33 in reply to gadgetdoll #
- Watching #startrek in Stardate order: Voyager's been in the Delta Quad 2 mos, DS9 just found a Jem'Hadar baby, and Kirk just died… twice. #
- @gadgetdoll Well, if you ever open a bar, you'll have to remember it in reply to gadgetdoll #
- And thus is spawned the ST07 timeline, where Soran detonated the Veridian star, killing everyone on Veridian IV and the Ent-D crew as well #
- Odd to consider that what's considered the "Prime" timeline in the #StarTrek multiverse has been repeatedly altered by time travelers #
- By definition, the "Prime" timeline should be the one unaltered by time travel #
- Ah, nothing like spaghetti with home-made sauce for dinner. (No, really, there's not much else besides ramen, rice, and soup) #
- I think it's funny that people got pissed when Kirk died… saving 250 million people. Wasn't Kirk the one who said "Risk is our business"? #
- Now on the Voyager episode with the Sikarians… Season 7 missed an opportunity to revisit them, since they were near Alastria by then #
- @aprilhebert I hope he gets well soon in reply to aprilhebert #
- @blambot Awesome! That's one of the books I've got on preorder at my local comic shop in reply to blambot #
- I guess I'm alone in thinking the 41st anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing is more newsworthy than Lohan reporting late for jail this am #
- Wow. That's frickin' cool. RT @scifigeeks: China build a full size Optimus Prime out of scrap metal (pics) http://ow.ly/2e2pi #
- Something I have in common with everyone who set foot on the moon: we're all Eagle Scouts #apollo11 anniversary @boyscouts #
- What's the point of sentencing someone to 3mos in jail if you announce they'll be out in 14 days >8hrs after they start their sentence? #
- @theisb Was gonna, but got less than $5 now thru payday in 2 wks, so had to cancel in reply to theisb #

- I wonder how much interest there would be in the autobiography of a 32-yr-old military brat/veteran/geek working at a high school… #fb #
- I started working on it a few months back. Wrote the first chapter and half of chapter 2. Set it aside, but thinking of working on it again #
- @theisb You won't know terror until you see my friend @danmcguff in his Spidey costume. He's reportedly wearing it today in reply to theisb #
- Ooh, nice RT @subspacecomms: So Cal Trek fans, We're going to have a pre-khhaaan! meetup in Orange Cty on Sat July 31. Details to follow. #

- Trekipedia: Update: 10 July 2010 http://www.trekipedia.net/5589 #startrek #
- TNG's "Rascals:" Picard turned into 12-year-old… Troi: "You could go back to the Academy." Picard: "And be Wesley Crusher's roommate…" #
- I still find it amusing that Young Picard was played by the same actor as Picard's nephew… always made me question Rene Picard's parentage #
- Now I'm on the "Chain of Command" 2-parter. Man, Nechayev was a bitch from her first five seconds on screen. No wonder I never liked her #
- I think the crew acted pretty unprofessionally, too… Jellico had a very different command style and they acted like spoiled brats #
- They didn't like the changes Jellico was making, so all of them but Data bitched and moaned. No wonder Jellico relieved Riker of duty. #
- One bright note, at least Troi started wearing a uniform like every other officer on the ship after Jellico's stint as captain. #
- Kids keep trying to make baskets in the trash can with paper balls, and keep missing. Doesn't bode well for the school's basketball team. #
- @theisb I'm glad I managed to sell enough copies of The Protectorate #1 to cover printing costs, but I've still got a bunch in a box… in reply to theisb #
- @blambot It's still controlled by humans, just remotly via satellite like Predators. US has had that tech for years. in reply to blambot #
- @TIME Omniscient, maybe, but omnipotent? in reply to TIME #

- @scifigeeks So does this mean we'll have a channel called SciFi that actually plays science fiction? The last one stopped #2 long before #1 in reply to scifigeeks #

- "…that with it Thou may blow Thine enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy…" #
- Apparently, because I wouldn't give a student my Dr Pepper, I'm a racist who hates Mexicans and voted for Arizona's SB1070… #
- So I guess that means I'm a member of the Arizona Legislature? Funny, I've never lived there… #

- Finally saw the first 3 eps of Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor Who. Liking it. Love how they brought back the Daleks. #fb #
- (And yes, I know the show's called Doctor Who while the character's simply The Doctor, but Twitter's 140-character limit sucks sometimes) #
